Human Design and Parenting Your Manifesting Generator Child

Does your child seem to naturally have more interests than other kids?  Do they prefer a faster pace to life, enjoying novelty and variety?  Does it seem like your child is all over the place sometimes?  Are they frustrated easily?  Do they bounce from one thing to the next?

All Manifesting Generators have their Thread Center connected to one of four Motors--Sacral, Heart, Solar Plexus, Root.

If so, you might have a Manifesting Generator growing up in your household—and, if you’re a Manifesting Generator too, you might totally vibe with your go go go child.

If you’re not a Manifesting Generator yourself, you might wonder about them— “Why do they jump from one thing to another—Is that okay? What should I do when they get impatient or bored? Could I be doing something more?”  Human Design offers an energetic blueprint that helps illuminate the mysteries in our lives, our relationships, and our communities.

So, how do we use Human Design in parenting? Here are some tips to help you parent support and nurture your Manifesting Generator child:

1. Encourage Their Multi-Passionate Nature: Manifesting Generators are often interested in many things at once and may want to try out different activities. Encourage them to explore their various interests without forcing them to stick to one thing. Understand that their journey may involve changing directions frequently.

2. Support Their Fast-Paced Energy: MGs move quickly through life and can be highly efficient. They may skip steps or move on to the next thing before finishing the last. While it’s important to encourage them to complete tasks, be patient with their process and recognize that they have their own rhythm.

3. Teach Them to Listen to Their Sacral Response: Like Generators, MGs should listen to their sacral response (a gut feeling of “yes” or “no”) when making decisions. Help your child tune into this response by asking them how they feel about different options. This can guide them to make choices that are aligned with their true desires.

4. Encourage Them to Inform Others Before Taking Action: Because MGs have Manifestor energy, they may act quickly and spontaneously. Teach them the importance of informing others before they make big decisions or changes. This can help them avoid resistance and misunderstandings with those around them.

5. Provide Freedom Within Boundaries: MGs need a balance between freedom and structure. They thrive when they have the freedom to explore their interests but also benefit from clear boundaries and expectations. Provide a flexible environment where they can express themselves while still understanding the importance of rules and consistency.

6. Help Them Manage Their Energy: MGs have a lot of energy, but they also need to learn how to manage it effectively. Encourage them to engage in physical activities to help burn off excess energy and to recognize when they need to rest. Teaching them to balance activity with relaxation is key to avoiding burnout.

7. Support Their Need for Variety: MGs often thrive on variety and may get bored if they are confined to doing one thing for too long. Allow them to have multiple activities or projects going at once, and understand that their interests may shift over time. This variety keeps them energized and engaged.

8. Encourage Patience and Persistence: While MGs are fast movers, they also need to learn patience, especially when things don’t move as quickly as they’d like. Encourage them to stick with things that are important to them, even if progress is slower than they’d prefer. Remind them that it’s okay to take their time.

9. Recognize Their Frustration and Anger: MGs may experience frustration like Generators or anger like Manifestors when things don’t go their way. Help them process these feelings by talking about what’s bothering them and offering strategies to cope with setbacks. Encourage them to use their energy positively rather than letting frustration or anger take over.

10. Celebrate Their Accomplishments: MGs are capable of achieving a lot in a short amount of time. Celebrate their accomplishments and let them know how much you appreciate their hard work and creativity. Positive reinforcement encourages them to continue pursuing their passions. By understanding and supporting the dynamic energy and tendencies of a Manifesting Generator child, you can help them grow into confident, adaptable individuals who know how to channel their energy effectively and pursue their diverse interests.
