This is my Sunlamp set-up at home.

Some of you know that I had been searching for the perfect sunlamp for the long winters that we have here in Minnesota. And, after months of digging into the research and reading reviews, I have found what I consider to be the best one.

I use it everyday. In fact, it’s literally the first thing that I do in the morning. Some call it light therapy. Others call it charging up. I’ve been calling it amazing. My routine is simple: Each morning I set my alarm for 30 mins early, wake up, turn on the sunlamp next to my bed and soak it in for a half hour. The sun lamp has a built-in timer, so when the 15/30/45 minute session is over, it just clicks off.

I am amazed.

It totally works. I get out of bed feeling recharged, wide awake, and I have a sustained level of energy ALL DAY.

If anyone is searching for a sun lamp or if you want to have an edge on the dark days, I can not recommend this one enough. I got mine at Amazon and the price was right, here is the link!

More Thoughts About This Sunlamp: Like I mentioned above, I thought about it for a long time and then finally dug into the research behind what light therapy is. I wanted to know why/how it worked. Once I understood that, it was a quick decision. I can't really explain in one word how it feels afterward, but it's like my mind gets a solid "reset" after using it and I feel clear and calm and more ready to enjoy the challenges of the day. This one has an ionizer in it, which also helps with the chill feeling. Apparently, an ionizer generates negative ions, which are good for our overall health. For me, it feels like it takes the static out of the air—it definitely is calming in the same way that sitting by the ocean is calming.

What drew me initially to this specific sunlamp is that it has a long history, the company has been making these lamps for 20 years and they have a variety of other light therapies, even one for dogs. A lot of the other lights out there seem to be jumping on the bandwagon and just putting together a 10,000 lumen lamp with LEDs and then calling it good. They probably work just fine, but the company itself and its mission really captured my interest.

Testing it out on day one. I’ve used it every day since.

Also, they use real bulbs, which some people don’t like, but, to me it feels different that LED light. My eyes seemed to respond better to the quality of light from a bulb as opposed to an LED. Also, this one was the only one that I found that also had the built in negative ion generator, which, I learned is also what the pink salt lamps do.

It was totally what I was looking for. It’s also got a lot of really powerful reviews from people who have shopped around a lot and landed on this one.

Using it is easy—there is an on/off button for the sunlamp and an on/off button for the ionizer. You can use them together or each one separately. They say that it works best when a person is no more than 12 inches away from it. Some people say that the magic number is 18 inches. I lay with it about 8 inches away from my face and it has been awesome. I know that some people in the reviews said that they keep theirs on all day long in the background like a sunny window. I can see how that would have a positive impact, too.
